The exciting news is my cookbook "Favorite Recipes of Kentucky Celebrities" has been selected for the bookfair. With nearly 200 authors selected, it is one of only 5 cookbooks chosen.

If you are going to the book fair I will be in Row 7 Table 33b.

The Kentucky Living Magazine is doing a story on my Cookbook “Favorite Recipes of Kentucky Celebrities” in their December issue. Janet Hoover is doing the story, complete with photos

“The Phoenix,” which is the national publication for Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority is also planning to cover the cookbook. However, they have not provided me with a date. More on this at a later date.

If you are looking for a GREAT way to raise funds for your favorite non-profit, consider this cookbook. The Boone County Band Boosters (Florence, KY) just completed their fundraiser. They sold 63 copies and raise $610. for the band. They were thrilled they did not have to compile it themselves.

JESSE STUART FOUNDATION

KENTUCKY AUTHOR JESSE STUART

We took a brief break from doing the blog as we had family visiting from Louisville. My husband’s sister and family came for a visit. We really enjoyed their visit. My niece came with them. She has become such a beautiful young woman. It is so nice to have a young person in our family who treats us with so much love and respect yet ask nothing in return. Like a breath of fresh air. I know their parents are so proud of their children. They are truly a blessing to our family.

Now enough about family! Cookbook update! The cookbook “Favorite Recipes of Kentucky Celebrities,” which I compiled has been included in the items that will be sold by the Jesse Stuart Foundation. I am humbled by this honor.

The Jesse Stuart Foundation is devoted to preserving the human and literary legacy of Jesse Stuart and other Kentucky and Appalachian writers. The Foundation also promotes a number of cultural and educational programs. We encourage the study of Jesse Stuart's works, and of related material, especially the history, culture, and literature of Kentucky and Appalachia.

Dr. Keith R. Kappes Chairman of the Foundation states, “We are proud that Jesse Stuart's books are a guideline to the solid values of America's past. With good humor and brilliant storytelling, Stuart praises the Appalachian people whose quiet lives were captured forever in his wonderful novels and stories. Paducah Author to Conduct Two Book Signings Saturday October 10th

Did you ever wonder what those gorgeous supermodels and movie stars (wearing size 2 dresses) choose as their favorite food? You would be surprised!

Actress and supermodel Mollie Sims, from Boaz, KY loves her mom’s Spinach Quiche. Jeri Ryan a graduate of Lone Oak High School and a regular on Star Trek, prefers a lamb dish prepared by her husband, French Chef Christophe Eme.

If you ask Louisville native Erin Hill, the harpist for musician Kayne West and who performs as Annie Blake on the daytime television show “Another World,” she will tell you in an instant it is the fourth generation family recipe for Fried Pumpkin Blossoms.

Reagan Payne, born and raised in Murray, KY and a regular on the television series “The Closer,” loves homemade honey granola.

If you want the detailed recipes, you will need to attend one of two book signings of the cookbook “Favorite Recipes of Kentucky Celebrities” this weekend by Paducah native and author Pam Whinnery.

The first will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. October 10, at the Grand River’s Harvest Moon Festival. The Grand River’s Chamber of Commerce / Western Waterlands Tourism organization is hosting the book signing as a fundraiser for tourism projects.

The second book signing is in conjunction with the Lowertown’s Second Saturday events this Saturday. Pam will be at Judeen Theis Art Gallery from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the Lowertown Artist Association.

The cookbook is also available locally at Ice House Gallery in Mayfield, Purple Toad Winery (as a fundraiser for St. Mary’s High School), St. John’s Catholic Church (there is a recipe from professional baseball player Phil Roof), Immanuel Lutheran Church, Murray, and the Yeiser Art Center here in Paducah.

2 BOOK SIGNINGS THIS WEEKEND!!! OCTOBER 3, 2009

KUTTAWA, KY. AND HANSON, KY.

We are truly blessed with the opportunity to do 2 book signings this weekend Saturday October 3, 2009.

The Lyon County Chamber of Commerce has invited the Author (Me: Pam Whinnery) to do a book signing of “Favorite Recipes of Kentucky Celebrities” at the Autumn Festival in Kuttawa on beautiful Lake Barkley. I will be there from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Proceeds from the book sales will go to the Lyon County Chamber’s project to provide Recycle Bends at the various Lake Barkley Marinas. All those boaters that come in after a day on the lake will have a place to recycle aluminum cans and plastic bottles. Isn’t this a great project!

Then we are going to Hanson, KY, which is just north of Madisonville to do a book signing starting at 5:00 p.m. as a fundraiser for the Hanson Lions Club at the annual Hanson Cruise-in.

Hanson has the distinction of being Kentucky's smallest historic district with a thriving art and antiques community. With architecture from the late 1870's - 1890's, what's outside is just as fantastic as the fabulous shops inside these architectural treasures. From art and antiques to biscuits and B-B-Q, Hanson Kentucky has something to offer for everyone. Reaching back into its vibrant history, Hanson has become a haven for artisans and antique collectors.

Exciting news for the COOKBOOK!!!

“Favorite Recipes of Kentucky Celebrities” was selected to be a “Kentucky Proud Product” This is the first book/cookbook to be considered by the Kentucky Proud Program. The cookbook has several recipes from Kentucky Proud Businesses, such as distilleries, vineyards, and craftsman that use farm products. It will be available at the Kentucky Proud Market

Kentucky Proud Market offers specialty foods, beverages, and handcrafted items grown and produced by Kentucky Proud and Kentucky Crafted members.

We are excited to be a part of the store, which recently opened at 210 W. Vine St., Lexington, KY. This is the first Kentucky Proud Market location in The Shops at Lexington Center. Located in the heart of downtown Lexington adjacent to Triangle Park, Victorian Square Shops, Rupp Arena and hotels, the center boasts over 1 million visitors per year for UK games, concerts, sports venues, family shows, conferences, and conventions. The 5,000 square foot store in endorsed by The Kentucky Department of Agriculture. Their long-range plans are to open stores all across Kentucky to promote Kentucky Proud Products.
