ICE HOUSE GALLERY GOURD PATCH FESTIVAL

2010 FESTIVAL WINNER

SEPTEMBER 17, 9 TO 4

On Saturday, September 17, Mayfield will once again pay homage to the humble gourd. The seventh annual Gourd Patch Festival, sponsored in cooperation with the City of Mayfield, the Mayfield Tourism Commission, and the Mayfield/Graves County Art Guild, will celebrate the modest cucurbit with an international gourd art exhibition, gourd vendors and crafters, music and dancing, children’s activities, a gourd racecar derby, concessions, a farmer’s market, and other activities. Simultaneously, the Mayfield/Graves County Art Guild’s Ice House Gallery will be hosting its annual All About Gourds exhibition, which is the focal point of the festival. Quality craftsmanship and creative abandon abound in this year’s exhibit. Now in its nineth year, the show features over 75 pieces by 28 artists from 11 different states as well as an artist from India. Festival activities will be centered between the Ice House Gallery at the corner of North and North 8th Streets and Regions Bank on North 7th Street in Mayfield from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

I participated in this last year signing the Kentucky cookbook. I have been invited back to do a signing of the Tennessee Cookbook, "Country Goodness Recipes of Tennessee Celebrities."
